We honestly didn't expect much of Bolivian food: I was imagining lots of uninteresting potato dishes and mystery meat. In Sucre, the country's governmental capital, however, there are several interesting and cheap vegetarian places, our favourite of which has certainly come to be El Germen, where we've eaten four times already this week. (Thanks to Never Ending Voyage for the recommendation!)
The place itself is nothing fancy, but the food is fresh, tasty and balanced, and best of all, only costs 20Bs (£1.80) for a soup, main desert and drink. Not quite as good value as our favourite lunch place in Tarija, but pretty good for a capital city!
